    Looking for Encore 2 satellites

I'm looking for a pair of Encore 2 satellite speakers to add to my Encore 5.1 system to bring it into the 7.1 world.   Does anyone know of a place that might still be selling these?  Does anyone have a pair they'd like to sell?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Paul

Re: Looking for Encore 2 satellites

I have the Encore 2 system as well. Unfortunately I'm not interested is getting rid of any speakers.  I interested in knowing if you've had the same problem I've had with the wall mounting brackets breaking?  All four of my silver "plastic" mounting posts have snapped off.  Have you experienced this problem?

Does Energy have or offer a solution to what I believe must be a wide-spread problem?

Thanks for your help and info...

    Den S.

    Hello Den S

One of my mounting posts just broke off last night.  I looked at the 3 others and they look like they are going to do the same.  I haven't contacted anyone at Energy yet.  Let me know if you get any other info.  Thanks. John K

    Paul,

I emailed Energy direct on September 29th, 2007 in regard to the failing brackets and post.  I haven't had any response (yet).  I'll forward any suggestions or information I receive on to you once I hear back from Energy.

    Regards,

    Den S.

With regards to bring any 5.1 bookshelf system into 7.1- I always consider that more channels and speakers are best ONLY if they can be properly selected and placed fairly closely to THX recommendations. This would involve using some type of diffuse wide dispersion speaker on the side walls and possibly on the rear wall also.

For most users this would involve adding something like the C-R100 to the side walls to provide the necessary dispersion. Use your existing surround speakers for the rear ch 6&7, where a more directional speaker is called for.

I'll have to do some checking on the bracket question. We'll see if there is a pattern. I've not heard many, if any, problems with them.

    Hi Den,

I haven't experienced any problems with the wall-mounting brackets as of yet.  Personally, I don't really care for the brackets because I find them difficult to work with.  If mine ever break, I'll be looking for a different type of mount.

I'm glad, however, that you brought this issue to my and others attention.  I will certainly take a look at the mounting brackets on my Encores to see if there is any sign of breakage.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Paul

One of my wall mounting bracket has broken also. I have contacted energy directly and they have told me to work with where i purchased the speakers. They in turn told me it is a warranty issue and to work with energy. Come to find out they do not make the brackets anymore. Does not really do much good to have a lifetime warranty, what a joke. If you come across a good universal mounting bracket please forward it on to me.

    Thanks

Re: Looking for Encore 2 satellites

Klipsch purchased Energy a couple of years ago I recently found out so I contacted the parts department at Klipsch in NJ.  Klipsch didn't have a replacement. All they could do was give me a phone number of another NJ manufacturer of universal mounts. Klipsch couldn't recommend even a similar replacement.  I call the manufacturer that made several universal mounts and they were not familiar with Energy Encore 2 "mounts" and said they would have to see the speaker. Not sure of my next step. I am convinced that Klipsch is of no help and as you found out, they were fast to push off this problem.

    Thanks,

    DenS

Re: Looking for Encore 2 satellites

I have the same experience. After a few years of hanging 4 of my encore2, right broke right where the ball connects to steel part of the wall mount. My speaker was hanging way above my head and i was 2 feet away from it dropping to my head. It would have serious injuries not only to me but to my kids. I can't believe Energy produced such inferior wall mounts that could potentially cause serious injuries. My speaker landed on my wood floor and therefore really messed it up. Called up Energy support /parts to complain and even ask for replacement mount. They couldn't believe it just broke and fell. Now i'm in the hunt for the original speaker stands and of course, they're no longer being sold anywhere. I took down all 4 of my speakers just to be safe. Inspected the wall mounts and surely enough, all went bent right by the ball area. If this is of steel material, it must be junk. A few more months of these hanging, i don't even want to imagine what could have happened.  I've been researching speaker stands and found the Sanus HF-1B adjustable stand. Anyone tried it with the Encore2? I'm still very angry at Energy not informing people how dangerous these mounts are and for not helping Encore2 consumers like me get replacement mounts that are not dangerous !!!

Klipsch obviously organizes this message board.  They however have chosen to NOT respond to the failing wall mount issue.  If this is the best kind of service, response and concern Klipsch is capable of, then I'll take my business elsewhere. I'll also be sure to inform their distributors of these experiences.

Klipsch has a mission statement of "The Ultimate Sound Experience".   Klipsch must be referring to the sound when their wall-mount brackets fail and speakers crash to the floor or the "lack of sound" you'll hear when you go to Klipsch asking for service.

Personally, after hearing that these mounts break after time, I plan on replacing them with some better, after-market mounts.  Mine have been hanging for the past 6 years...I don't think I should let them go much longer.  Don't want anyone to get hurt or to have my speakers get damaged.

if you guys are interested in speaker stands that works great with the encore2 sattelites, i find the Sanus Systems HF1B speaker stands to work very well($79  retail). It comes with a bunch of mount options and screws. The 'L' bracket and one of the screws work perfectly for me. I did take out the silver round backing in the back of the speaker and just screwed the speaker directly to the 'L' bracket. The stand height is also adjustable and comes with both the straight and  angled steel pillars so you can pick and choose whatever works better for you.

Re: Looking for Encore 2 satellites

I have the same problem with my Encore 2 wall hung speakers.  Two have busted in the same place where the "metal" meets the black ball.  I'm discouraged to hear there is no replacement parts.  I really have nowhere to place the two speakers on stands and need to find a way to hang them back on the wall.

    Any suggestions?

It sounds like the company is fairly worthless regarding this recurring problem.  It sure would be nice to find out they came up with a solution for their customers.

Re: Looking for Encore 2 satellites

My brackets (3 of 4) broke after more than 5 years owning Encore satellites.  I was dissapointed to find out that a piece of aftermarket replacement bracket cost +$17 a piece.  After searching for few hours in the net, I found a speaker bracket from Walmart made by Atlantic for less than $20 for 5 brackets.  I went to get it this evening and have it installed without problem (note: I took of the original metal bracket and use the original screw to mount the speaker to the new bracket).

Concern: the bracket is rated for 10 pounds (close to the 8 pounds weight of the Encore). I make sure to screw the cable into the speaker tightly.  Just in case the bracket broke, the cable would hold the speaker temporarily.  So far, I have no issue but will put additional comment if I have issue.
