    Speaker cable connectors of 22 / 1710s

I am conecting a pair of c1985 Energy 22 Reference 1710 speakers to a new Home Theatre. I went to connect up my speaker cables to the back of the speakers only to find that the wires are too thick to fit the connectors. I unscrewed one of the connectors, thinking I would take it somewhere to get a more compatible replacement. When I tried to screw it back in, it seems like the long screw is unable to correctly connect and will not go back in properly. It will reconnect only if I remove the smaller red part of the connector. Can anyone help? Mark

Just replying to my own message... I decided to take the main speaker out of the cabinet by undoing 8 very tight screws. This allowed me to access the parts in question and reattach the part that had become disconnected.

    Good man,

In any case, if your wiring is too large of a gauge for the binding posts, a small amount of the wire threads can be cut away so as to allow the connection to take place. For the miniscule distance involved, this reduction in the gauge of the wire will not make any difference.

Just some guy who knows a heck of a lot about Energy Loudspeakers!
