subwoofer auto power off/on not working

I have a S8.3 Sub woofer connected to A Sony Receiver, and I notice that the setting the power switch to auto I never see the speaker power off even when Receiver is on Standby .

Is this normal , ie shouldn't the Sub power off after a few mins?

Have you tried disconnecting the sub rca cable from the receiver at either end? If the sub powers down while disconnected from the receiver, must be some current leakage from the receiver's sub preout, though I have no idea why.

they are switching off now, perhaps I didn't wait long enough, so I now see that the speaker light is off in the morning which I assume means its in standby mode.

Any idea what sort of power it uses in Standby mode?

If you're referring to the sub, I'm not sure but probably much less than 0.10 watts.
